This Privacy Policy explains how FootRivals collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use our app and website.

1. Who we are

FootRivals is the data controller for personal data processed through the FootRivals app and website. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@footrivals.app.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: email, authentication provider ID, and sign-in metadata.
• Profile data: username, selected club, and account creation date.
• Activity data: daily steps, points, streaks, and leaderboard positions.
• Device and technical data: app version, device type, error logs, and service diagnostics.
• Notification settings: reminder times, threshold preferences, and notification permission state.

3. Health data

FootRivals reads step counts from Apple Health only after you grant permission. We do not write data back to Apple Health. Step data is used to calculate points, form, streaks, and leaderboard positions.

4. Why we process your data (legal bases)

For UK GDPR and EU GDPR purposes, we process personal data under these legal bases:

• Contract: to provide core app features, account access, sync, and leaderboards.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, stable, and abuse-free.
• Consent: for Health access and notifications, which you can change in device settings.

5. How we use data

• Operate gameweeks, points scoring, rankings, recaps, and streaks.
• Sync your account and recover data after reinstall or device change.
• Send reminders and gameweek notifications when enabled.
• Detect abuse, fraud, and service misuse.
• Improve reliability, performance, and feature quality.

6. Sharing and processors

We use service providers that process data on our behalf, including: infrastructure/database hosting, authentication providers, and analytics or diagnostic tooling. We do not sell your personal data.

7. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK or EEA. Where this applies, we use contractual and technical safeguards required by data protection law.

8. Data retention

We keep account and activity data while your account is active. We retain some technical records for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance for a limited period after deletion.

9. Your rights

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data.

You can delete your account in-app. You can also contact support@footrivals.app for rights requests. If you are in the UK, you can complain to the ICO.

10. Children

FootRivals is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that data has been collected from a child without valid consent, we will delete it.

11. Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit, and operational safeguards to protect personal data. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted in-app or on this page with an updated date.
